While
Hilom caters to the physical health needs of the students, faculty and
staff, e-Hilom will offer something for the intellect—electronic
resource materials which will supplement the services currently available
at the school library. e-Hilom will therefore be a multi-media center and an electronic library which will operate together with the MHPNHS library, utilizing the support of its staff. On its initial phase (beginning of SY 2010-2011), e-Hilom will provide five (5) new personal computers (PCs), audio-video players (DVD, VHS), and one TV monitor. These machines and equipment will be necessary in making use of the initial CD-ROM collection (both purchased and donated) of reference materials on math and science, as well as Philippine arts, culture and history. The present audio-video collection of the MHPNHS library may also be transferred and integrated with e-Hilom. Estimated budget for this phase is P150,000 or approximately US$3,500. |
| On its
second phase (beginning second half of SY 2010-2011), e-Hilom will
look into the connectivity aspect, that is, hooking up its PCs with the
Internet, for access to various electronic databases, publications, and
other references. It will also strive to acquire a projector and a laptop
which can be used in audio-visual presentations in classrooms and other
places in the campus. Estimated budget for the second phase is another P150,000. The third and final phase is a little ambitious. e-Hilom will transfer to a much bigger building, developing each aspect of its services separately: one, a full-service educational media center of electronic equipment and facilities; the other, an electronic library of linked personal computers with full Internet access. But in the meantime, we have start small. Five PCs, a integrated-interactive multimedia learning resource center video player and monitor, and an initial collection of CD-ROMs, for the students of MHPNHS.
